Hey everyone,

Just wanted to hear what people had replaced their old worn-out oil pressure lines with? Where's the best place to get replacements with all the fittings for our mech. gauges?

thanks

Get a replacement kit from one of the Corvette parts suppliers - it will have the line (with the little brass ferrules pressed into the ends) and two new compression fittings. Speed shop gauge line kits won't have the same type of compression fittings GM used.

Very true...

So I pull out all 20 of my catalogs and am trying to find the oil pressure line for my 74. No luck. I wish these companies had better search features on their sites. Some don't at all, or are really hard to find...

Anyone buy one recently so I know which company to focus on?

Thanks

Corvette Central sells them. Bought one about a year ago. Chuck

Those lines get brittle with age ... so do the fittings ... mine cracked at block fitting & EMPTIED in engine bay at high RPM ... motor did not survive. Others had line failures near gage that soaked interior.

BTW, the thread in back of block is 1/8" NPT pipe thread ... to close it off you can screw a small brass hardware store pipe plug into block until you can gather new line & fittings.

I replaced line & fittings & left op gage-panel loose for a week ... monitoring for leak ... no probs then or since. Also, I upgraded to a larger ID & OD (next size up) plastic Tygon line with appropriate sized brass fittings ... it's a bit more robust that stock & I'm sure the plastic material is improved over the years. I got all the stuff to do it from local Lowe's builder supply for less than $10. My replacement setup employs a small brass ferrule-insert that fits into ID of line to prevent crushing ... & the outer ferrule is plastic to prevent cutting the plastic line.
