Silly Question of the Day-Hole in Upper Fender

See the pic, white dot from wax. In my former C3 there was a rubber bumper there. What is the purpose of that hole on C2s?

Paul, there was no hole there on production cars for attaching anything; have no idea why someone would have added it.

Over 35 years ago, I drilled a hole to install a hood open car alarm. Very basic junk.

In my case, it was on the driver's side and much further back where the underside is accessible from inside the engine compartment.

pretty wild, my roadster has a hole in almost the same spot.......

....maybe that's where they hid the bongs during the 60's
