Are there any good tricks to simplifying the vacuum hoses on top of the engine? They really are an eyesore, looking like a pile of spaghetti. Any good tricks to getting them more orderly?

Mid-America sells shiny wrapping you can put over them. But I like the stock look of under-the-hood Corvettes. :)

Dont know what year you have , but if they are all run behind the motor along the firewall, as my 1970 is, then you can fabricate a cover to hide/shield all the garbage thats on the firewall. I did this by taking some sheetmetal accurately cut and bent so it slips down behind the distributor cap about 12 " , then makes a 90 degree turn toward the firewall which 'caps' all the hoses, wires , etc..from being seen. It is about 18" across . I put some decorative edging around the perimeter of it to dress it up then painted it the same black as the engine bay. Gives it that finished look. Sorry i cant post a pic of it, but if you email me, ill email you back some pics. It not only cleans up the engine bay alot, but, the hoses/wires behind the cover are at a lower temp than out in the open.

I'm thinking mostly about the vacuum lines on the engine. Like the ones that connect to the carb and such. Right up on top of the engine, where everyone sees them.

I know I can't eliminate all of them (although some are going away), but there has to be a way to make them more orderly... this nest of hoses just doesn't look good.

Dont know how it looks on a 1979, but, id give some thought to braided hose covering and use tie straps the same color as you engine bay highlights are.
