I really like how Audi's shift, it feels very effortless; smooth & silky, almost like cutting butter as you whip thru the gears....
(for those of you that've driven the new A4, u know what im talking about)

what can i do to get this effect in a 97 manual C5? is there any type of shifter that will replicate this?

It probably doesn't have anyhing to do with the actual shifter at all. It is a factor of the engineering that makes the Audi smoother.

I love whipping throught the gears in the vette especially second you feel the whole car just leap forward what a rush!

If you like the shifting of the Audi, buy an Audi. Any smoother shifting, get an automatic.

Okay guys, thats the extent of my flaming :(

I have an 04 6spd that has 100 miles on it. So far, I have to really work to make sure I get into second and not fourth from first and into fifth and not third from fourth. Is this something that will loosen up with time? Maybe I'm just used to my '85 Honda V65, that's loose as a goose. Thnx.
