- Question on a 68 350 small block -

How many wires other than the main battery lead are connected to a solenoid? The reason I ask is because I have two other, but one has an in-line fuse (but the fuse housing is busted). I can't figure out why this wire would be fused. Any ideas?

Thanks

I'd guess maybe an after-market stereo system ?

I thought maybe something after market at first too, but the inline fused wire looks like its going into the original harness.

I'm not sure which is "S" or "R". Without crawling under the car at the moment I see 3 wires attached to the top post on the solenoid. One is definitely the main batter lead, then two others, one of which is the fused wire. I can't see the other post at the moment.

Originally, there was only one wire on the large terminal (besides the battery cable); it was 14-ga. brown (fusible link wire) at the terminal, then had a molded-in splice, then became 10-ga. red as it entered the harness. Sounds like a previous owner fried the original fusible link and replaced it with a fuseholder. The second wire you have on the large terminal was probably a direct feed for a stereo.

So, no idea's on what amp fuse would've gone in this?

Thanks
