Okay, today i decided to take a ride in my car ('77 coupe), and i went to get my hair cut; well, when I came back out i tried driving it and it was pulling hard to the left, so I stopped and called my dad-I am just a teenager-and he came to get me. I let him drive it home and he said that when he would apply brakes that it would pull to the right and he had to press really hard to stop. Anybody know what it could be my dad thinks maybe my brakes are sticking or maybe my steering went out we don't really know as we are vette novices. Any help or other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds more likely to be brakes, check your front first.

It sounds like the left front brake hose has collapsed internally.

First, check your power steering reservoir to see if you have lost any fluid. Pull your front wheels off and inspect your brake caliper on the left side. It could have blown a seal and dripped brake fluid on the rotor, which would explain the hard pull to the right. If you don't see fluid, look at the rubber hose between the caliper and the suspension and look for a bulge in the hose.

It pulled to the left while under normal driving, and to the right when hard braking? Sounds like the left caliper is stuck so that it has a little squeeze on the rotor all the time, causing left steer, and right braking. That would be a start. No leaks that you can see, right? Doesn't sound like air in the system, but just be sure to check.

Wow, thanks guys I really appreciate it. I love how anytime i have a problem you guys always know the answer. I hope to someday not have to ask questions and be able to help like you guys.

Unless your name is JohnZ, then you'll most likely have to ask questions. Cars are complex and complicated. But that's the beauty of it all...
