What can I do about the problem of ripping spark plug boots when removing them from the plugs? No matter how careful I try to be I seem to rip one now and again. Yeah, I can rip them with my bare hands or with the tool. I'm an expert! :mad Is there something that can be put on the plug or inside the boot to prevent them from welding themselves together?

Yep -- I am also familiar with this problem. Lectric Limited will not sell you just the boots. I had it happen to a relatively new set of plug wires and they did send me a couple extra however I had to show proof that the wires were recently purchased from them. When I am at an auto junk yard, carlisle or flea markets I always keep an eye out for old plug wires as they may have the correct grey boots on them.

I begged them to send me one right after I got the car as it was torn. They charged me $10 plus shipping. I was not amused. I took it back to Conte's where I bought it for some problems I had with the car and he put a whole new set of wires on it, no charge, as part of the repair. I thought, damn, I just spent a bundle for a boot and now he's put a brand new set on for free. I wish now I had asked him for the old ones!

I think Lectric Limited must have changed their supplier for spools of bulk wire to Sri Lanka or Bangladesh recently; prepared a '65 for the Orlando Regional last January, and it took three sets of their wires to get eight good wires :mad . NOT fun on an A/C car with full shielding. If you're going to drive the car, I'd go with a set of Delco wires and forget the minor points hit.

John,

How did Lectric Limited react to your returns? Just curious.
