I recently took my 99 convertible to Chevy. It has 14,000 miles on it and I thought it was time I had the spark plugs changed. They wanted $481.00 to do it. and I thought isn't that really steep? I'd like Chevy to work on my Vett and realize that they cost more money, but I think this is more like robbery. What do you think?

I know it would be a cold day in hell before I'd pay almost $500 for plugs with installation. I also wouldn't change plugs n a C5 at 14,000 miles, regardless of age, unless there was some indication of a malfunction (the plug wires are more likely to need replacing than the plugs). But that's just me. I'd, at least, shop for a more reasonable price.

Spark plugs have come a long way from the 60's. The plugs in your car are rated to last 100k miles. Would I wait until 100k to change them? Probably not but I got 60k on my clock with the original plugs still it in and it still running strong.
