Spark plug choices

I'm sure this has been discussed as much as oil preferrences, but I can't imagine a reasonable way to search for those discussions without getting a whole lot of other threads (anything where spark plugs are discussed).

So, what plugs are you running, how do you like them, and would you recommend them?

I switched back to a standard iron AC plug after a rather lengthy discussion on the falicies of platinum. I'll be changing all my vehicles back to factory iron plugs as well.

Go with the factory recommendation. The gold plated platinum sugar coated wiz-bang thing-a-ma-jigger triple electrode gotta-have doesn't work any better and sometimes worse than what the factory says to use.

I continue to use AC Delco standard plugs on both vettes. No problems here.

How come there would be more power with two plugs per cylinder? I mean, isn't a spark a spark to ignite to combust? How does more spark contribute to power?

Two plugs simply get a better fuel burn which will give you more power and better mileage.

I see. But there is only one spark per cylinder in the Vettes' V8s, right? Is there a mod (an easy one?) to put in another? Because that seems to sound like two only benefits.

...an associated question I would have on this topic is: do split fires work "better" than just the regular old, standard plug, or should I save the few extra bucks and have a steak for lunch, instead of a burger?

I have not heard anything good about Splitfire plugs other than they make a lot of $ for the company. I have heard that they mess up the computer controlled firing and timing on all of the later model cars. (Those cars using sensors and computer controlled ignition).
Save your $.......

I put the splitfire plugs in my '96 Ford Explorer...I noticed no performance gain or gain in fuel economy. They were a waste of $$$ IMHO.

i make spark plugs....the steel part before the ceramics are installed.most of what we do go to delphi....AC...we also make the shells for many of the NASCAR crews.....many of the men i work with used to work for champion plugs in toledo...the old timers tell of a time when champion need to seek a better plug as Bosch was gaining market.....no the champion factory is closed and Bosch is kickin the door in on the market....BUT...i still believe in and use AC.

Thanks for the link, DDL; I had previously been warned away from platinum, but I never really delved into the physics behind it.
