I was wondering what plugs most owners are running in their LT1's? Does anyone run a cooler heat range plug in their car and has it helped keep combustion temps down and improve your ET's?

AC Delco Rapid Fires and cut back the electrode. if you need help Dave i'm usually free on sundays now and i can make a trip up north for a day :D net gains of 10 rwhp or 1 tenth and 1 mph in the 1/4.

no need to change heat ranges unless your running massive timing. look at the insulator. it will tell you alot but at the moment on the top of my head i can't remember exactly. if it's white with streaks of grey like lightning your too hot i think or it could be too cold again i can't remember off the top of my head.

when your ready for headers on the LT1 let me know we can pump it out in 4 hours or so :D

How much are you taking off the electrodes.

Thanks
Fred

Cut back ground electrodes improves performance by exposing more of the air fuel mixture to the flame nucleus and reduce quenching by limiting the available contact(surface) area between the electrodes and the flame nucleus. See "quenching" for more information.

gap the plugs to your desired gap. i gap at .047 stock gap is .035. use a dremel and carefully cut the electrode then use a piece of sand paper and sand off any burrs then use some WD 40 or Brake Cleaner and spray it down real good to get any metal particles out. Re Gap to your desired gap and make sure the electrode is hanging over just a tad. might have to hit the side of it to bend it over some and re gap again.

Mic are you running the stock ignition? I did not think the ignition in our cars were powerful enough to fire a .047 gap.

Hey maybe I should try that on the Z. And as for headers , yea I would like to find a pair of longtube. As far as gap goes Marc Haibeck told me to gap the Z at anywhere from 40-50 thous. Not sure about the LT1.:beer
