I know many of you guys and gals replace your stock systems with high end stereos but I'm actually not that disappointed in the stock Bose system, except, the front speaker rattle. My 2002 less than 1 year old has that annoying buzz. I don't trust the local dealer and being somewhat handy I want to remove the door panels and secure, lock-tite, pad or whatever alse is needed to quiet things down. I know there is a TB on the 2002 and many other years with this problem.
Ok here's my questions
1) Panel removal, window up or down when I take out the screws behind the door handle and carefully pop the retainers.
2) Is it that simple to get to the speakers? What do I need to look out for when removing the panel.
3) Has anybody done this and what have you found to cause all the rattling?
Thanks in advance and just want to say this is the best forum by far.

I just replaced my speakers this weekend and eliminated a ton of places where there is or could be a rattle.
I put the window down, it didn't seem to amke any difference, but I saw a post somewhere where it was recommended.
It is extrememly easy to get to the speakers, but I suspect they will not be the problem.
The first thing I did was reglue the stryofoam back onto the panel using 3M spray contact cement. Best stuff I have ever used for stryofoam and plastic. I used C clamps and weight to make sure there was good surface contact. They were definitely coming loose and a source of vibration.
Then, I used tiny sheet metal screws to tighten and scew down the speaker covers. There are tabs that hold the cover in place, I pulled them in a bit more to tighten up the cover, then screwed them down. I also put a silicon glue over each tab. Next I tightened the wire for the Bose emblem, and covered them in silicon glue.

The actual door was next where I put 1/4 "stick on" weather stripping between the door pins to tighten up the panel when it is put back on. I also super glued the Bose emblem to keep it from loosening up.
Everything is very tight and vibration free. I have no idea how long that condition will last, but I am hoping it lasts a long time.
