speedo cable

does the tranny care of the speedo cable is unhooked. I have the two piece cable version in my 72. The lower section internal cable kinked up and snapped in half. Will it mess up the drive gear in the tranny if I drive the car without that square rod inserted into the hole for the speedo cable. I got one on the way but its too nice right now to let the car sit in the garage.

No, it won't hurt it to drive it with the cable disconnected at the transmission.
