I was driving home last evening, and while taking a casual glance at my speedometer, saw the needle simply fall past 0mph, and rest on the stop pin. I was travelling about 60mph, and noticed that the rest of my guages are operational. My vette is a 1980. Can anyone shed some light on what may have happened, and what I should do / check??

It sounds like either your speedo cable broke or came unhooked at one end or the other.

Its either the cable or the speed head in the guage. AC/DELCO has cables readily available for around $13 I think. If that doesn't work, give Willcox Corvette a call (talk to Ernie). He will rebuild your guage like new. They rebuild both my speed and tach.
