Hi Folks,
Does anyone know where the Speedsters are now? I understand there were 11 of them made, but I've only seen the black (former James Cameron) car come up for sale a few times, but nothing recent. Thanks!

There were 12 Speedsters built. 10 Speedsters and 2 SuperSpeedsters which are based on Twin Turbo ZR1's.
I believe the guy in Colorado owns both SuperSpeedsters. I know one of the Speedsters is in Carlisle and Reeves' wife has one of them. I'm not sure exactly about the other 8, but I'm sure someone can help fill in some information.

Oh....just remembered the silver Speedster in a large Corvette collection in Columbus, OH. It's actually in a picture on my profile here at the CAC.

The former Cameron car does indeed keep getting auctioned - it seems to maybe even go back & forth between the same "owners"

Anyways, as Reuben mentioned, both Super Speedsters are owned by one guy. One in PA, a couple in Cali., one in S. America, one in the MidWest, one in Ohio - etc., etc.

Are you looking to buy one?? Just wondering, as I know two guys here, who would like one as well - supply & demand ;) :v

As a matter of fact, yes I am - probably later this year. I'm thinking about selling my '69 L88 later this year, and would like to replace it with something equally unique. I've always loved the Speedsters.

If any Speedster owners are reading this, and are interested in maybe working out a trade for a 1969 L88 Automatic car (one of only 15 made, NCRS Top Flight winner), please PM me.

Jonstr, if you like, feel free to list here, or PM me the details / options / color on your L88 car, as I know someone who has interest in them and possibly I could offer some help.

re: Speedsters for sale. The Steel Blue w/ stock Corvette interior was for sale earlier in the year - Aside from the Super Speedsters and the black one, I have not heard of any others, coming to market.

You have certainly come to the right place tough for Callaway iinfo - feel free to ask away any questions you might have, as other owners & enthusiasts here have together, seen most of those 12 cars :cool

Also, check out the www.callawayownersgroup.com website, as there is some info on the SPeedsters there as well :cool

I hope this helps :m Chris

The Steel Blue was on Ebay few months ago , but has a damaged nose from debris.

It is located in Columbia

good luck in your search for a Speedster, and please post some pics of the L88

My favorite speedster is the magenta one from the BF Goodrich ad... I guess it's magenta at least, it may have been digitally colored...

I believe one of the speedsters was given the LM front end, hood, etc. It's painted burgundy/dark red. Super speedster I guess?

Oh, this purple one on this magazine is also great:

Thanks, everyone, for all the info. I really appreciate it and will be continuing my search, albeit slowly.

Jeorenfgfn, Here is my L88. There are more photos and info on the car here.

...I do hear a C8 may be coming to market VERY soon - one of ONE!
:eek That's not good news for me. I'm not financially prepared to buy a C8 right now. :cry

...this thread actually generated several emails to me asking the whereabouts of the Speedsters that are for sale - amazing cars, all of them :cool I do not know of any for sale right now except the black one and the steel blue one that came up for sale a few mos. ago. http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79959&highlight=speedster

When the right car comes up for sale, I bet the car will go FAST! :cool

I think that all of us should collaberate and make the best Callaway website ever. :)

It'd be great to see 1 picture of every single Callaway Speedster produced, and I bet with enough work we could all do it for every Callaway car. I have a friend who has put a lot of effort forth into documenting the existence of every single Vector W2, W8, WX-3, and M12 and such. He hasn't finished, but with such limited edition cars, it isn't that difficult. You can see his website here, but unfortunately it is under construction since his server crashed and doesn't currently show off all of his work:
http://www.vectoraeromotiveclub.com/

Perhaps the B2Ks are too many to try to document, but Speedsters, C8s, C9s, C7s, LMs, C12s etc would probably be quite easy. :)

Brangeta, have you been living under a rock for the past five years and not heard of the CallawayOwnersGroup?
There ALREADY is a website that has what I think you are in search of - it is called - www.callawayownersgroup.com and was developed BY Callaway Owners and Enthusiasts.
I am sure if you wanted to see some different content added or updated, all you would have to do is ask - or even better, write / or submit it to the site.

No, I know of it, but it seems as though 89x2 does all or most of the work.
