Spied: Chevrolet Preps Next ZR1 Corvette?

Automobile Magazine is reporting that a C7 ZR1 was caught testing with some high-end competition.

Motor Trend is also reporting the same thing. Here's what Chevrolet had to say when Motor Trend asked them about these Corvettes caught testing:

What do you think? Is it a ZR1, or maybe a Z06 or just final base-model testing?

I think it's final cal for the C7, possibly with the Z51 pak.
Nice to see the master-hunter with all it's victims neatly lined-up.... I mean the C6 ZR - the SLAYER!

I'm gonna guess that's an evaluation ride with competing product. The car looks to be either a base or Z51.

I'm not seeing anything that would suggest that it is anything other than a base/Z51. An upgrade would need to include body mods IMHO

The hood and tires look like a stock C7, suggesting it's a stock C7. A blower would require a really substantial hood mod. Likewise, a power increase would likely mean bigger tires, even on early developmental models. I'd guess it's a baseline run to see where they need to do in the future. But that's just a guess.

I think it's also a thinly disguised "ad" promoting the idea of the Vette right in there with the best of them. Fine with me, we'll see how good when we get some Nordschleife times. I'm guessing 7:28 to 7:30

I thought the side shot of the ZR1 and the C7 interesting.......there is a strong family resemblance.......which is good in my book.....just saying....I like the C7....so I saved my pennies and I saved my dimes....for I knew there would be a time......

The Red is just a base C7; the Nassau Blue is the base model with Z51 package, as you can see by the wheels (split 5-spokd, and tall rear spoiler).
