Glen,

If they don't want to respond to you, they probably don't care too much. What did you ask them? Maybe we can answer the questions here.

Check out Vette Brakes & Performance. They're a Supporting Dealer. I've bought from them before, I did the transaction over the phone and they are friendly folks to deal with.

We bought the Sportbrakes drilled and slotted rotors for both of our Corvettes and have been very happy with them. Mind you, these cars are used for just general driving, not racing or autocrossing. We especially liked the price -- I think it was $249 for a set of four;)

Glen,

How did it turn out? Unfortunately, a lot of companies are leery of dealing with clients across our borders for various reasons. I hope you get everything settled to your satisfaction. However, keep in mind that there are a lot of vendors out there so keep shopping until you find what you like.

I'm tempted to go with a set myself for the nice looks. I'm going to ditch my current wheels and go with 5 spokes and I think the drilled/slotted rotors would look very nice.

hi edmond,
still no luck, he emailed me and asked what i want to know so i emailed him again and still no answers!
i mean how long/ simple is it to just email some one back!
its not that hard i would of thought!
they are cheap rotors, but if they want to treat customers like that i will buy some where else , even if they cost more, then too bad!
i do like "baer rotors " or ssbc turbo slott rotors but are alot more!
well ssbc rotors are quite good price!
$345.00 u.s for 4 rotors with turbo curved slotts along with brake pads!
not bad, hey?
and you can get them with extra plating for an extra $100.00!
but yes if you are going to have spoked wheels, the cross drilled/slotts look real nice!
what i like about the sport brake rotors is they have the option off dimpled/slott rotors which are not drilled all the way thru unlike other cross driled rotors so they dont get cracks in them as bad!
thanks for your thoughts and time!
cheers

Glen,

The Baer stuff seems to be some of the higher end product, not cheap but definitely highly recommended by a few folks around here.

You could also check out Wilwood brakes. My neighbor really likes them. He got a set of slotted/drilled rotors for his '69 Camaro along with the calipers and pads, etc...

And check out that VB&P. They make good stuff.

Here's the website to them: http://www.vbandp.com/

You need to be really careful of many of these products that promise to improve your braking performance. I have worked with aftermarket brakes on a number of cars, and found that for everything an aftermarket product claimed to improve, something else was compromised. I can give "for examples" if wanted, but keep in mind that our cars have pretty great brakes to begin with.

Chris,

Do you feel that since the slotted/drilled rotors disapate head better, are they more resistant to warpage?

The issue of heat dissipation (sp?) only becomes a real issue if you use the car on a track----but, the bottom line is that any serious usage of a car in track events requires major upgrades of brakes, cooling, lubrication system etc. Your car will behave a LOT differently on a track than you think it will. In street use heat disipation is basically a non-issue unless you race on the streets, brake real hard frequently and repeatedly etc. Frankly, many of the performance brake pads on the market are bad on the street, since they need to heat up before they start working, and the classic situation I always talk about is that you are comming over a rise on the freeway and traffic is stopped in front of you. You want brakes which work NOW, and it doesn't matter whether you can do 10 stops like this right after the other. Frequently, unsexy factory pads are the best in this critical, real life situation. Anyway, all that I've read indicates that the the drilled and slotted rotors are NOT intended to promote heat dispersal, but are designed to allow gas pockets which form between the pad and the rotor to escape. Otherwise, the theory goes, the brake pad sort of "hydroplanes" against the rotor. People seem to favor the slotted rotors over the drilled, in order to avoid cracking issues. They also say the slots or holes "scrape" the pad clean, etc etc etc. That's the theory. We're all the type of guys who are wanting to improve our cars, so are susceptible to all these claims. I have thought about trying slotted rotors on the front, but really am in no rush to do so, as the standard brake system is extremely good, like many of the other standard parts on our cars. My advice for the gentleman in Australia would be to spend his money on the basics. That is, make sure the standard brake system is up to snuff, etc., and use his money for repairs and to spruce up the car (e.g., replace trim pieces which are worn etc.). It's amazing, but sometimes cleaning up and repairing tiny things can REALLY make the entire car feel and look so much better. The worst thing that happens is when you spend a bunch of money on one of these "upgrades", and either it makes no real difference once you stop pretending that it does so your friends don't laugh at you, or it makes something you didn't expect worse. Finally, that C4 "101 Projects" book I recommended in another thread is very good at exploding many of these aftermarket products myths. The Aussie gent needs to get this book.
