I've owned my 96 for about one year now. The driver side window had sratches on it when I bought it and they seem to be getting worse. Does anyone a clue what could be causing this??
The window works great and does NOT make any noise when I use it.

:( :v

In my 85, there are some pads, two in each door, that keep the window from rattling. They have a rubber pad covered with some plastic "felt" (for lack of a better word). There are also some similar stationary pads on the outside. If the pad comes loose, the metal behind can scratch the window, without any noise.

You have to take the interior door panel off to check.

Don't know if it is the same on a 96, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Thats correct, there are two felt covered pads that wear out over time .Sometimes they can be polished out .If you can feel the scratches with your fingernail dont even try to polish them, its hopeless.

Rabbit, the file you sent me was corrupted... could you send me it again.

I don't think I'm going to have time before Carlisle because my header gasket are leaking. Those gaskets have to be replaced before the long trip. Thanks again Rabbit for the info, I'll start working on the window when I get back in town
