Last week I had a tranny fluid leak.. Changed the gasket & filter and threw some sealer in.. I was driving the car around for about 45 minutes (to let the sealer circulate) and the car suddenly stalled.. It almost felt like I was running out of gas as it sputtered and then died out.. Car wouldn't start or about 15 minutes - seemed to be flooded.. Later in the day the same thing happened again - running fine for 30-40 minutes and then it dies out and needs to sit for 15-20 minutes before it will start again..

Everything is stock - engine has 72,000 original miles.

Any ideas on where I should start to address the stalling.

I should add that after this happened, I cleaned the carburetor and haven't had achance to take it out on a long drive again..

Any help is appreciated, as always.

my 2 cents...

it sounds like your loosing vacuum when it heats up.....like a intake manifold gasket.....or something like it....when the engine heats up and things start to expand you loose the seal you have when its cooler...try and hook up a vacuum gauge to it and monitor it as she heats up...
But dont dispare....i have had too many fixes found here to number...help is just a click away.

It could be as simple as a bad gas cap. If nothing else, it's cheap and easy to replace. Could also be a vapor lock problem. If you've had the car for awhile and haven't touched the fuel lines at all, I don't think the vapor lock is likely.

When it stalls hot and won't start, yank the air cleaner lid, work the throttle lever, and see if you've got fuel coming out of the accelerator pump squirters; if you do, it's not a fuel starvation issue. I'd aim for a bad coil or HEI module - most hot-stall/no-start problems are ignition-related.
