Hello,

I am thinking about buying a set of complete ready to bolt in sport seats from a guy to replace my standard seats in my 99 convertible. I currently have power on the drivers side but not the passenger side. When I bolt them in, will the drivers side just plug in the current power supply and all air bags and adjustments work? What do I do to add power to the passenger side? Is there a power hook up hidden somewhere on that side? Do I need any special plugs?

Thanks

Hi there,
Well, honestly, you will have to remove the carpet, and check for the connector on the passenger side. This is not that hard to do.
I would check, because some have them, some dont.
After that, your seat frames are all the same sport or standard, so they will bolt right in.
As for the rest, yes, you are a straight bolt in for the drivers side, HOWEVER, you may or may not have the memory package. This is critical that you do get the same seat adjuster, with or without memory.
Yes, if you do not have the plug on the passenger side, wiring would be VERY TOUGH, as you would have to run wires into the fuse block, and all associated BCM fuctions.
Please let us know if you would like to continue.

I don't currently have memory functions and don't really care about them. However, I would like for all other power functions to work. Will all power functions work on the drivers side by plugging into the current harness except for memory? On passenger side if there is a harness it will hook up, correct? If there is not a harness, could I just run a 12v supply and rig up a connector?

HI there,
While I cannot speculate if just running 12 volts, as I have not done that.
I have just done a passenger side installation, wiring per GM guidelines.
It is difficult, but it can be done correctly.
As for the rest, if the harness is there, you can hook up correctly.

was the passenger side installation you just done a scenario like mine with a person adding sport seats to a standard seat car? Is the power harness for the drivers side standard seat compatible with the drivers sport seat harness?

Thanks

HI there,
Yes, it was. I simply had to add the plug for the lumbar.
This was in a 99 hardtop, and they wanted the lumbar supports. There was no power on the passenger side.

does that mean I need a harness for the lumbar on the drivers side, or is everything already there since I already have power on that side? Or are you only talking about adding a harness to the non power passenger side? what I am wondering is, will there be any harnesses added to the drivers side or will all work be concentrated on the passenger side.

another ttt for c4c5.
Thanks in advance for helping out.

HI there,
You can see from the attached diagram, that this 6 pin connector is what you will be looking for on the passenger side.
Now, everything for the lumbar section is inside the seat itself. SCM, switches, and the pump relay assembly should all be in the seats that you are purchasing.
Remember, that you are only supplying power, ground, and individual power for each motor.

how about the drivers side? will the existing standard seat power harness power all functions on the sport seat?

Gotcha. Thanks for your help. I guess I will go searching for the harness on the passenger side.:upthumbs
