Steering Column Interference/Adjustable Pedals?

A friend of mine and I looked at a C6 the other night and sat in it, and I had a problem with the steering column that I wonder if others have had. I'm not a tall guy, and in order to fully and properly depress the clutch I have to move the seat up a good way. Then, I adjust the steering column in so that I am not too close to the wheel and can drive with arms-out. My '81 4-spd. fits me perfectly when I adjust everything, actually the best of ANY car I have ever driven, any year/price. However, in both the C5 and C6, when I do these adjustments my knees and upper legs will often bang into the area just behind the steering wheel where the dash dips down to (I think) cover the electric motor which adjusts the steering column. This was not too big a problem with the C5, but it is a bigger problem with the C6. In fact, materials aside, I thought the C5 interior was a better fit all around and was more spacious (the dealer had several C5s in the showroom so I could compare). Has anyone else noticed this problem? My hope is that GM will offer adjustable pedals some day, like Ford and Chrsyler do on some of their products.

GM does have adjustable pedals. Only, I don't think they are avaible on the C6.
