This is for a 93 Corvette.

Anyone know where I might find a upper column housing? You know the one that always gets worn out by the pivot pins. I did find one site with them, but at $600 for NOS units and $285 for reconditioned units that cannot 100% garenttee no movement...I'll pass.

I found that Marc H. has some oversized pins for sale at $50 each. Might be a good option.
I could go the cheap bastard route, I have thin .002 and up in .001 increments brass sheeting. Maybe make some "shims" for the pins to take up the slack. The looseness is worse in the upper housing than the lower housing. The lower one is available from many places but not the upper. My lower has a tiny bit, MOST in the upper.
Even cheaper is JB weld.

Also, do you know where I can get the clip that holds the lock plate on at? You have to depress the lock plate and remove the clip to disassemble the column.

What a PITA it was tearing the column apart. Holy crap. Easily one of the hardest jobs I have ever done. I'm sure going back together will be no pick nick as well. Good news is I didn't break anything and all the switches, levers, bearings, etc..all looked/felt great. Lots of grease still on all of them at 20 years and 60K.

Not sure if this applies. I had my wobbly tilt mech redone by a specialist who deals mostly with ignition switch/links, etc. in cars that have been stolen. She came to the house and did the work in about a half hour and charged $60--I was looking at $300 from Pontiac.

I should follow up with this. I wound up ordering the pins from Marc. H. They where actually too big for my housing. So I wound up using the stock pins. What I did was take RED lock tight and just put it on the stepped up portion of the pin that engages the upper housing only. This way it can still tilt. I tapped them in and put it all back together. I have absolutley no noticeable slop in the column now. I don't move the tilt to get in and out, and I don't haul myself out of the car with it, so it should last for a long time. Hope this helps someone.

Marc. H. is a very good guy, he accepted the pins back after I told him what I had found. I recommend his services. :D
