I was looking for typical belt squeel by pulling idlers, both belts, checking them out replacing and still have the squeel. Not very loud but its like fingernails on the chalk board. I isolated the noise to at least the alternator/steering pump belt, I can make the noise go away by carefully loosing the belt with the engine running. I squirted a little WD-40 behind the power steering pump pulley and the noise went completely away, until the wd-40 went away. Did it several times just to make sure and it seems to be behind the pump pulley. Any suggestion as to course of action? New Bearing perhaps?

by the way 98 coupe with 74K miles, manual trans.

Thanks:)

Thanks C4C5

I will put a little extra force on the tensioner to see what that does to the squeel. I don't believe I have any belt slipping on any of the pulleys. When I take tension off the belts the squeel goes away.

Also, this am

I did put a soap solution on the belt with engine running, squeel went away. Looks like a squeeky belt. I will just replace the belt and see what happens.
