Steering question

Got the Vette back a couple weeks ago, after a ton of brake work. The brakes work fine but this past weekend I noticed that the steering jumps around just a little. It feels like I cant sence the road as well. The mechanic who did my brakes had said the center pinion bushing was worn and that was the problem.
Was wondering how hard of a job this is to replace? I cant really afford to bring it back in.

O.K let me elaborate. It appears that the power steering cylinder is leaking. Could this cause the steering to jump around a little.

I'm not sure about just the power steering ram causing your problems, but it could contribute. I changed out both the power steering ram and the control valve along with all new hoses, along with the idler arm and it made everything a bit tighter.

I would suggest you clean up all around the power steering control valve and the ram paying special attention to the hose connections. You may find that the hoses are the cause of the leak

Also if you have 50 series tires on your car you may find it hard to track down the highway too. I know with just the 255/60's on a highway with deep ruts mine at times wants to follow the ridge..

Thanks rare81. I have been doing alot of reading and it sounds like the idler arm is usually the first steering component to wear. Also it appears to be pretty easy to change so I think I will start there. Also I will check all the tie rods for any play.
