Anyone else have this annoying click when they turn the wheel left or right. I have had this issue for several years and actually found an article describing the fix a few years ago, (a pin or spring that wears out) but I did not get around to fixing it. Now I want to, but I lost the article. Does anyone know what I am talking about, do they have a fix, etc.

Thanks,

steering wheel click...

Volavet,

I have the same clicking noise on my CE. I wish there was a quick fix so I could stop that stupid clicking. Can anyone shed some light on this problem????

That is a link to the Knowledgebase on this Web site. It is a Service Bulletin for 1994-96 cars, including the Corvette, for "Intermittent Steering Column Snap or Clink Noise When Turn". I found this and took it to the dealer that I bought my Corvette from. They said that the problem posed no danger and that the fix would be expensive because of the labor to take apart the steering column. The part that needs to be replaced (GM Part #26059705, spring kit) only costs $28. I decided at the time that it would be easier to live with the noise. It occurs just as you pass over dead center when turning the wheel. I only notice it every once in a while now. I guess that I have gotten used to it, but if I had the money, I would prefer that it be fixed.

Thank you very much, that is exactly what I was looking for. However, I think I will live with it as well, I dont want to pull the whole steering column for a click.

No click on my 96.

Mine clicks too, but as others have said, too expensive to fix.

Shop said the same thing, although at some point, I will need to fix it. It is getting worse and apparently it may be some aluminum box at the bottom of the steering column that wears out. Apparently it is from pulling yourself out of the car putting weight on the steering wheel. Personally, I dont do this, but I do know that I hit my knees on the bottom of the wheel every time I get out of the car, putting slight pressure on the wheel, so I assume that may have contributed to the click.
