when i bought my vette , the tach wasnt working.....the reason was the drive and driven gear in the distributor.......that is fixed and now the tach seems to have trouble going down....it goes up with the engine and comes down eventually, but im wondering if it just needs time ......i have no idea how long it didnt work , other than the fact that it only was driven 600 miles since 1986....
thanks for the time.:bu

Sticky tach ... if I had to guess ... that's exactly what's wrong. After sitting so much for so long ... the lube in the tach movement has dried & become "sticky" ... key-wind clocks (remember those) experience same problems. Suggest remove tach & take it to reputable clock/watch repair shop ... have them clean & relube it.
--- Edit --- I notice you're in Detroit area ... surely there is a speedometer calibration repair shop or two there ... have them clean & relube tach.

Thanks Jack....

i guess its time to take the dash apart again......im just happy to hear it may have a shot at repair , gotta be alot less.:bu
