Well I am getting tired of this car. :cry I let my father drive it just for kicks and he said "there is a severe fing hesitation." It is like when you mash the go pedal it just doesn't go like it should, or at least it used to. I cleaned the air filter which greatly helped the problem. I am not sure what else to do, the injectors were gone through and cleaned. I don't think the fuel filter was changed so I will price one of them out and do that this weekend. I already tried to bump the timing up, but it started to knock. Any suggestions guys I am at the end of my rope.

Let us know how the new fuel filter works.

Also, have you checked the ignition parts, plugs, distributor cap, etc.?

After you replace the fuel filter, why not disconnect the battery and dump any odd codes that the computer might have squirreled away?

Don't give up.

I did a new coil, cap and rotor shortly after I bought the car a little over a year ago. The plugs are regular AC Delco and the wires are cheapies so I might just bight the bullet and buy a new coil, cap and rotor, and put AC Rapid Fires in with Accell or MSD wires.

I called autozone and they watn 5.99 for a fuel filter. Are there filters okay to use or should I get a different one?

Anybody know about that fuel filter from AutoZone??? I took the coil, cap, and looked at them and the coil looks brand new, while the cap does show some wear but not much. I am not sure whether to buy new plugs, wires, cap, and rotor tomorrow, but the plugs and wires are not the ones I really want on the car anyway so I guess I will. I started reading through this thread http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46196 and am wondering if it is not the fuel pump... I am going to buy a pressure gauge tomorrow, or make one and check that too. Is there a way I can test the fuel pump before I actually remove it?

Yeah my brother and I calibrated it really really close to .54 volts, but maybe I did not do it right. I guess I will add that to the list of things to do. Still nobody has any thoughts on that fuel filter????

If it fits, buy it.;)

Make sure it is set for .54V at idle and 4.5V at WOT.The slope of the TPS is what sets your initial fuel/air mixture and tells the ECM to give the injectors the proper pulses. After that your ECM monitors the O2 sensor and MAF sensor and corrects the pulse width to adjust for maximum efficiency.

Some other things that could be affecting your performance are:

Timing. Should be set before any other adjustments.
Low Intake Vacuum due to gasket leaks.Should be around 21" at idle.
Low fuel pressure. Replace filter,Check with gauge.
Bad MAP sensor.
Incorrect valve adjustment. Affects intake Vacuum. Do a compression test to check for leaky cylinders.
Bad Knock sensor. will retard timing if defective.

I know you have some antifreeze leaks that could be signs of leaky intake gaskets.

Ensuring that the engine is tight and leak free is the first step to figuring out what's up with is thing. Since your brother has one too, you could take some measurements side by side and compare readings.

Pete.

Well last night I decided I would change the cap, and rotor. Boy that was an awful experience. I put the new stuff on and put it all back together to make sure it ran right before I took the plugs off. Well It didn't you could clearly tell it wasn't hitting on all 8. So I took the stuff off and reassembled it with the same result. Then I took it off once again and put the old cap and rotor on, and it ran even worse. Thankfully it ran good enough to move it into the garage so my brother could look at it this morning.

So today my brother looked at it and we checked the routing of the wires and they were all correct, so we figured it was probably one of the connectors in the wires. We changed the wires with Accell wires, and ACdelco rapidfire plugs (which was an ordeal buying them at Autozone...) So we got it back together and it ran like it should. Next we changed the fuel filter out with a new one. I am glad I did this since the one on the car was the original.

Overall the car seems to pull a little harder, it is probably just my imagination but oh well :L Thanks for all the help guys.

It is still leaking antifreeze like a mofo from around the T-stat housing. So Monday it goes back to the shop, and If he tries to charge me for more then the gasket I will just do it myself I guess.
