Stock gears on a 78?

Hey guys, I read the post that says c3 specs....and i think it states that a 78 l-48 with a th350 has 3.08 gears stock....but i remember reading somewhere else that it has either 3.55 or 3.73. I cant rembmer. It was probably 3.55 cause i dont think im lucky enough to already have 3.73's But anyways...whats the stock rearend on a 78 L-48? And just to be completely sure, it is posi right? Im pretty positive on this fact, but just want to be sure.

That car could have had 4 different ratios.( 3.08- OK ),( 3.36- OM )
( 3.55- OH ),( 3.70- OJ ). The 2 letter code after the ratio is the corrosponding code on the rear carrier. All were posi traction.

78 -2 letter axle code location

mvftw- I am not exactly sure where it is. Ask Mike( stingray 6974)
I am sure He would know. I only have a service manual for my '81 and the 63-79 rear carriers are different than the 80-82.

Josh,
It's stamped in the carrier on the bottom where the rear cover bolts on. Just behind the strut rod mount.

I just look at my build sheet (previous owner pulled it off the gas tank) and from what i can tell my L48 4sp has 3.36 gears. I'll check the differential to be sure.
