Hi guys

I know the stock '78 C3 has a 3.08 gears. I noticed today that on my differential there are the numbers 3.12 OK. Could this be right?

P.s. for the guys who thinks you can't get 300 HP out of a L48 engine, don't be afraid.

Start with the head gaskets of Summit racing there are some that gives a 11.0:1 compression instead of the stock 8.01:1.

1978 axle ratios are:

OK 3.08
OM 3.36
OH 3.55
OJ 3.70

After the OK the other letters may be date of manufacture or other manufacturing codes.

The 312 is the Julian date when the diff was built - about the second week in November. There is no head gasket on earth that will increase compression by three points - your engine has a steel shim head gasket already, and they don't come any thinner than that.
