None yet, but working on it.
Hi there.

I'm working on a 1:25 scale 1963 Sting Ray with a 327. I've been looking at reference pictures to get a better idea of how a stock engine compartment looks. However, I've seen several versions and I'm not sure which is the most stock/original.

I've seen some pics with no ignition shielding and some with 100% shielding from the plugs to the distributor and varying degrees in between.

I'm trying to build the most popular stock version of the '63 so which shielding option should I be using?

I like the looks of this fully shielded version and I thought it would be fun to build, but I want to be as correct as possible.

Thanks for your help.

Oh, I was going to ask about the air cleaner cover also. Should I use chrome or black for my stock version?

Thanks again for your help.

ALL CORVETTES came with ignition shielding from the factory. Most people removed it because it was a pain to set the distributer, and it was still considered excessive weight.

Air cleaners, the L75 had duel snorkel with Chrome top, the stock 327 had black top and the L-76 had a different cleaner all chrome with no snorkels...exposed elements. So it depends upon the engine you are putting together. Stock with 250HP, L-75 300HP
(came in black and chrome LIDS only), L-76 Chrome open air cleaner.

Best thing to do is get a catalog from Corvette America, Corvette Central, ZIP and see for yourself the options. Engines were different (valve covers, air cleaners, fan/alternator,cranks, idlers..etc)

Hope this helps..

EBvette, radio delete cars and those before when the radio was standard equipment did not have the shielding. The shielding was only for radio interference... Dave..
