what is the stock rev limiter on an 87 coupe auto? i am curious cause i am buying another intake which will flow upto 6500-7000 rpm and would like to know the stock rev limiter setting. i am thinking on going with a MSD box when i do the H/C/I setup.

i also might have a good deal on a DFI setup pretty cheap.

The L98s computer fuel cutoff is set to about 10,000 rpms. You will never hit it.

You MUST set the limiter in the MSD box, or something else because youll blow the bottom all to hell.

thanks vader. i remember reading something about a fuel cutoff switch. i thought there was one set at 5800 rpm since i hit it once and it stayed there for a min doing a burnout at the track....lol

i'm gonna start looking for a msd box.

Dont know if the rest of the engine is stock but, IF it is stock, 7000 is way to HIGH for CAST PISTONS. Let alone stock valve springs!!!! Also if it is stock, The next time you go to the parts store,Pick up some oil dry and a dustpan YOUR GONNA NEED UM!!!!!!!!!!!!! ;LOL ;LOL ;LOL

drags thanks for your concern but i am building a 96 stroker roller 4 bolt main motor with a 150 dry shot of nitrous. steel crank, rods, and flat top pistons will be in the motor. this is the shop i work out helping my friends out while i look for an IT position. www.fbodycentral.com

BTW with stock shortblock it can flow to 6500 rpm easily with a good valve train no problem ;)
