Do you guys get stone chips in your paint? particularly on the hood?
I have noticed a few spots/chips this week, and I don't drive my car much -- but have used it more than normal this week since the weather has been great. The paint is in great shape, but there are small chips -- and I don't think they were all there when I got the car a few months back. Normal? Something to live with? Thanks!

Something to live with unless you go clear bra (film). Also if you do any back roads driving in 2 laners don't tailgate (on freeways also for that matter). Plus when you tailgate I may miss you/not see you and not wave.:w

Yep! C4, C5 or C6.

The worse occurs in the first 1/3 of the hood. If you like the looks of a bra or one of the clear plastic covers, that would be the way to go so long as you cover enough of the hood. The cloth bras can create other problems however as they need to be removed and cleaned regularly or they become a wrap-around sand paper holder if allowed to get and stay dirty.

The good news is that it doesnt rust at the chip.
Try some touch up paint but just dab each chip. use very little. It must be "wet". The trick is to NOT brush it on. That is reserved for long deep scratches and it takes some practice.
If applied in the shade/garage it will level a bit and it will shrink when the solvent dries. The professionals actually use a razor to level the excess on the large ones.

I have book on detailing, and it says to use the end of a paper matchstick instead of the brush. As far as nicks, I always try to keep a few car length between you and the car ahead of you and by all means stay clear of tri axle dumptrucks. When one is on my tail, pull back and him race by. You'll always see the tailgates leaking gravel or stones. Beyond that I say get a GM original bra. It's part #19202113 :w
