A short while ago a buddy came to me with a problem with his cooling, complaining about too high a temp, 210-230 and he drives it mildly. He says it has never been this high.

At roughly the same time it seems his radio stopped working.

Does anyone know what the stock computer settings are for the computer to turn the fans on?

Any sugestions would be helpful.

Thanks in advance.

I believe the fans go on "Lo" at 226* & "Hi" at 235*.

I monitor temp all the time. 228* aux fan on. This seems like a steady temp that triggers the aux fan.

Mart, here is an informative link regarding LT1 cooling that might help your friend solve his cooling problem: http://www.theherd.com/articles/lt1_cool.html

He should make sure there is no debris preventing air flow through the radiator, and to ensure that the primary fan is activated at 226 F. With temps at 230 F, it would appear that the primary fan is not activating.

You might ask him if the thermostat has been replaced. The LT1 requires a special 2-way thermostat, and if a standard thermostat was installed, excessive coolant heating would occur.
