street gears

what is a good street gear to run with a 700R4 :confused

I had a '82 with 3.73s This worked real well with the OD 4th gear in the 700R4.
Bought a GM speedometer reducer for the cable ; and Oh yea ;I modified the shifter to go into first gear on the console.
