Have any of you ever used Sumitomo Tires on your Vette? I just bought a set of AFS ZR1 rims (11"&9.5"), and I was thinking of trying these tires.

I tried some a few years ago...they were ok, but not great. Not a bad affordable tire I guess, Id rather have some BFGs.

Check out Kuhmo's.

I didn't think Kumho made a 315 tire.

Victoracer v700 $171. in 315
Ecsta v700 $173 in 335
Hoosier a3s03 $258 in 315, $268 in 335

PS these are "sticky" tires, for more "serious" type driving, short tread life.
:)

Where did you get those prices?

Tire Rack ad in Grassroots Motorsports. Couple issues ago. May have changed?

Sumitomo's=GOOD

Well guys, my new AFS Rims and Sumitomo tires have come in, and I had them mounted and balanced. I actually like the Sumitomos better than the Firestone Firehawks I had. Of course it may just be the wider tires that I am feeling...but the car rides nicely.

This is more of a general C4 technical question, so I'm going to move it. I hope you don't mind. :CAC

Bought a complete set 600 miles ago, so far they seem ok. Got a good deal from NTB.

I do my own mounting and balancing and I'm very picky about getting a really accurate dynamic balance. I was low on funds about a year ago and had to have tires. I bought Kumho's expecting them to at least hold air. I have been totally amazed by them. They balance out with the least weight of any tire I've seen including Michelins which usually require less weight than anything.

In addition they run smooth at any speed and seem to be holding up well. I bought them for the Vette first, then for my sedan. I am totally sold. They are filthy cheap and seem to defy the old saying "you get what you pay for."

They are made in a sectioned mold like a Michelin. There are a few other tire makers that are going to this superior manufacturing method, but I would not have expected the least expensive tire on the market to be one of them.

My $0.02,

I put a set of Sumitomo's on about a year ago and have really been happy with performance.

I love my new sumitomo tires, I got them from tirerack.com and had them mounted and balanced locally. Together with my new kyb shocks, it's like I have a new car. For a budget tire, it's quite a deal.
