I thought that the Z51 package was more than just a suspension package (brakes, tires, gear ratio, etc.). No?

I would definitely go for the Z51 package. It comes very close to C5 performance and I would still mod the heck out of it.

to me the Z-51 and 6-speed is the way to fly, a few years away though;)

By then youl'l be looking at that beautiful 7.0 Liter and wanting that. ;) I agree though, 6-speed and no other thing. That would be fun as hell.

Yes.

I didn't like the ride of the Z-51, at times, but want the rest of the package. I would opt next time for the Mag ride on a Z06 convertible.

F-55 for me

Reason is that the roads where I am are so bad full of potholes, very bumpy roads and I wanted the most comfortable ride possible on a Corvette. F-55 gives you 2 choices at any given time.:D

I assume you mean C5 Z06......?
:cool

I got this message in error

But I believe he is referring to the 2005 C-6 with Z-51 package will keep up with a 2004 Z-06.

I got F-55 wanted to get the most smoothest ride possible in vette

And I won't be driving the Z-51 suspension the way it was meant to be driven on the track pushing it to the limits in the turns = going through lots of tires.
Besides on the C-6 Z-51 the tires that come with the car wear out much faster than the base suspension or F-55 suspension on C-6.:)
Also where I'm at the roads here are terrible very bumpy uneven with lots of pot holes. Check out that report on the F-55 where they show an airborn corvette with no F-55 and the F-55 Corvette on the ground. They also do a 120 mph pot hole test. This shows that this system is always on and working for you so there are no surprises on the road as this system will assist you in control of the Corvette..
There are also a few other positive write ups on the F-55 suspension.

I drove both the Magnetic Suspension and the Z51. Bought the Z51 C6 because of the other upgrades (i.e. rotors, coolers, etc) and because I thought the Z51 ride was all I could ask for in this car without having to decide what "mode" I wanted to drive in. Smitty

Congrats on your new Vette Smittybilt. I'm considering Mag vs Z51 myself. I am just about sold on the Z51 and could quote you for my reasoning. The only thing that concerns me is the assymetrical tread tires on the Z51 are optimized for dry conditions. The base tires seem clearly better for three season driving in the Northwest where I live. The car is gonna get wet here like it or not-probably really wet at times. So I may try to order the car with the base tires on Z51 OR simply replace them and sell the set off the car. It depends on how the Z51 tires perform in wet conditions. I certainly expect that the Z51's will be superior to the base tires on dry. My primary concern is hydroplaning. Your thoughts and experience would be appreciated on this matter.

I didn't know they were going to make the Z06 in a convertable. Are they considering makeing it in a converrtable. - Ron

So far I've had the car out in the rain and haven't had any problems with the tires although I have to say I have yet to be stuck in a downpour with standing water to answer you about the hydroplaning issue. I'll be sure to let you know. I'm also not sure you can order the Z51 package with the regular tires. Smitty

No you can't but after you wear the first pair out
