Lo and behold, a flashing 'sys' has shown up on the left side of the display. The factory shop manual says this is some message about a problem in the CCM module. Manual does not seem yo have any solution...

Is this something to worry about ?? Any thoughts appreciated

Pull the codes and see what they have to say.
Check the alternator and battery…. Is the car doing anything funny? A weak battery or failing alternator will usually start the SYS light flashing.
If you find no other problems disconnect the neg battery terminal for a few seconds and reconnect it. It the light stays out you are the victim of the infamous random Corvette ground failure… be happy that you do not own a ’90.

Spanishvettes, why do you say be glad you don't own a 90? I (knock on wood) I haven't had any yet.

Thanks for the input. Factory Manual says no specific codes for CCM. No aftermarket radio...and...today after about a 50 mile ride, no more flashing ???? but I think I'll pop that battery cable just for fun

Thanks, Ted

'90s have more bad ground related problems than other years. GM did not learn about dielectric grease untill 91.

Thanks, I constantly keep track of different problems with 90's but I picked up that everyone uses dielectric grease so I have used it also. I'll make sure I use it all the time. :beer
