My 1992 convert. is flashing sys on the display by the fuel gauge readout. anybody know what this means? The owners manual only says there is a problem with one of the central control module(CCM) controlled systems.

This means an electrical problem with varying or low voltage somewhere - in my experience, it was the precursor to needing a new battery.

Newly installed after-market stereo? if not ususally it's the battery.

No, nothing has changed since last time I drove it. Thanks thats two for battery.

I've seen it before when I had a blank chip installed in the car. I was doing some tuning to my chip and had it out sitting on the table with some blanks. Wouldn't you know it some how I got the chips dissarranged and picked up a blank.

I've seen it another time ... cause was a bad ECM. The one time that thing has told on itself.

hi there guys,
my 1991 vette also flashes "system" all the time!
it flashes three times, 3 seconds apart from one another!
then stops for a short period , then starts up again!
i heard that it was a "code 33" m.a.p sensor possibley but have since replaced with a new m.a.p sensor and disconnected battery and still it is around flashing "system" !
also i replaced the battery with a new battery as well!
i dont know what else to do or try?
any ideas guys?
thanks

SYS Light

My '95 occasionally showed 'SYS' after I bought it in 2002 - especially when accelerating. The battery was original (7 years old). New battery, no more light.
BTW take off the side 'gill plate' to get at the battery. In addition to the screws in the fender well, there's one screw in the bottom that can be loosened with a thin wrench thru the slot above the sill plate. No need to completely remove the screw as the gill plate tab is slotted.

sxyvet, your problem sounds exactly like mine. but I haven't change anything. Ron C4
