T-Top Cracked!

Glass T's on 81, put the tops in the back just like I've done for the past 5 years and this morning when I went to put them back on one edge was cracked. I'd just like to ask if anybody knows a fix or just buy a new one. What a way to start a Monday morning,,, sic...

MJ, I feel your pain, but I am not aware of any magic fix on this one. Sounds like a new one is in order. BUT WAIT-.........I'm sure theres a lot of comments to follow mine, maybe, just maybe, someone will have an inexpensive answer.

I have a second set of tops, the solid ones stay on the car and the glass ones stay in their bags, tucked safely under my bed.... right next to my premium hunting rifles.

Ive called every where around where i live and nobody does it. Not even the biggest glass company here. Apparantly the curve of the glass requires some serious machine. ecklers has repair services for 369 each>>>>

You can buy one from ebay ususally around the same price. A set will run you over a grand new from any vette catalog. Astrotops.com offers a nice one piece deal that Im looking to get next week probably. they also rreapir/replace i believe. There is some catalog that Im not sure of that I have sitting around here that offers a one piece roof panel thats water repelant canvas that can be used perm or temp i guess for like $260 (ill find it if your interested). You can also look around locally for a vette junkyard that usually has them. As you can see ive done a little research.

Do a search on google.com for used corvette parts and find a good used top. People list them from parts cars/wrecked cars, also they are on ebay quite a bit. You might have to switch your trim pieces etc. Make sure you buy from a reputable seller and you can get what you need and save a lot.

and the one piece is $329 plus $50 shipping and the pictures on ebay are the exact same ones on their website. Just some more FYI

I agree that Ebay price is high...Considering you can buy it directly from the maker. Although I am glad you sent the link, the Photos on that Yellow Vette sold me......The Smoked Top should look good on my Black 81. All in all I have yet to hear any bad comments about the AstroTop's. My Hard Tops can take a break...And I can can get some sunlight... it looks like they might be able to repair your damaged top as well.
