When I took off the weatherstripping on the part with the screws, there didn't seem to be any seal there. Maybe it came off when I removed the WS!! This post seal just goes under the part with the screws? The weatherstripping is all rubber with metal inside it. (where the screws are) Is that how yours is? I guess I'm being anal about this, but I don't want to do it wrong!! Seeing as I screwed up at first!! :L I really want to drive my car, but am afraid it might rain!! Don't have a big enough umbrella for it!
You are probably right, the post seal probably came right off when you removed the WS....We just placed this post seal along between were the screw holes are, as close as we could, this post seal is sticky on both sides, and had a devil of a time getting the screws back in at the exact right angle because they are so short.....but don't worry about this as you can pull the WS away from the T top because it doesn't really stick and try again, where if you used the weatherstrip adhesive you would have problems. We found that the new WS has preformed holes for the screws, even though you sort of have to pull it open to see them, then we just used a metal awl to line up the holes in the WS to where the screws go into the T-Top, once we found out that little trick, it all fell into place quite easily and we found out that you couldn't go wrong. I am telling you for novices
it was a little difficult at first, but once we got that portion of the WS in place, the rest was just a piece of cake...it is important to do this section first and then just do a small section at a time with the remaining three sides.
You are lucky you don't have a CE, because we had to do the back window (the hatch) which as you probably know opens.....That was a nightmare as the reproduction WS was nowhere near the same as the original. We had to take the rear window out after installing the WS and shim up the hinges so that we could have a real tight fit, we spent hours on that portion..nightmare !!:bash
After all the WS was on we had to take the car into our mechanic who is a Corvette Specialist, he rebuilts corvettes, all years and he knows them inside out. He looked over the weatherstripping install and told us we did a fantastic job and he could not have done any better. That made us feel pretty darn proud:W that we accomplished something we never thought we could ever do. Probably saved ourselves a bundle of cash.
Once you are done with your T-tops they sure fit tight, and it is amazing that there is no more wind whistle, although I find it a little hard locking them into place. Just so used to the Tops fitting so loosely.
Anyway girl, hang in there, I really admire that you are doing this yourself..it's only too bad that the suppliers of the WS, don't put instructions in with their product...cause we all know that us Gals read instructions really well, sorry guys, we know you don't like to read instructions, it's okay we understand completely!
