Just purchased a 1993 C4 with a T56 installed. Excellent installation, but speedometer and odometer do not read correctly. Anyone have experience with this fix or know where a plug in adaptor can be found to correct problem?

i'm trying to think if the T-56 is mechanical or digital. your 93 was mechanical i think. i do know the 93 FBody came with a 700R4 setup which was mechanical.

there is a kit for the switch but you'll have to look under the car to find out what the tranny is. should be an opening on the drivers side for a cable to fit into and tighten up if it's mechanical if memory serves me correctly.

as soon as i find the kit that you need i'll post it :)

Speedometer Calibration

If you have a 90+ Camaro or an 87+ Firebird you already have an electronically driven speedometer. If not, the transmission's electronic signal has to get converted to a mechanical shaft drive, or the speedometer must be changed to an electrical unit. JTR (Jag's That Run) has a conversion kit available to change the electrical T56 output to a mechanical cable, but unfortunately, it is around $300. Abbot makes a black box that drives a cable speedometer as well, for a few hundred. Auto Meter has an electronically driven speedometer that accept's the VSS signal. I'm using this, along with a few others very succesfully.

The T56 has a 40 pulse per driveshaft revolution VSS signal generator in the tailshaft. This has to get converted to a 4000 (or 2000) pulse per mile signal for your VSS buffer input. The easiest way is to purchase the Dakota Digital SGI-5 signal recalibration box to do this. This is just spliced in between the transmission and chassis wiring.

without knowing which transmission you previsouly had i can not help you fix it. this is for FBody's doing the swap. you can find this information here.

i'm sure others might chime in to help you also :)
