Tail light removal

How in blazes do you remove the drivers side, inside tail light?
not the lens but the whole assembly? I can feel the one 10mm bolt after I remove the license plate, but how in the heck do I get to the other one? Is there some kind of secret in removing that thing?

hey caddy,

mine went out just last week. first take off the license plate. then take off your drivers side back up light. thats two bolts. easy. next stick your arm in where the back up light was and feel around for the back of the bulb. its tight. you will scratch up your arm. the bulb has a safety pill bottle lock type lock. its tricky. however its the same as the backup light you just pulled out. i practiced on that and it made it easier. i replaced all bulbs while i was in there. the part # was 2057. good luck. post if you have any probs.

It's not the bulb I'm trying to remove it's the whole tail light assembly, I can get to the bulb with no trouble but that bolt on the far side of the light.............I just flat can't get to it...

Remove the inner lens first...then you can reach in and get the outer lens. Another way I found (you need long arms) reach around the outer side of the muffler.

The lens is not a problem.......Here's what I've tried to do:
I remove the License plate, stick my hand inside to the first tail light, there is a 10mm bolt on the near side and a 10mm bolt on the far side, I can reach the near side one with no problem but I can't even begin to reach the other side, now if I ever could reach it, I could remove the entire assembly and then get to the outer light, I swear I just don't have a clue on how to reach it.
