I changed my oil two days ago. 94 LT1. Used Mobil 1 and a new filter. Jacked it up so I could crawl under there. Drained it all out. Installed new filter, put the drain bolt back in and added 4.5 quarts of Mobil 1. Ran it for a few minutes and shut it off and checked the level. Perfect. But now when I'm driving it I hear what sounds like tappet noises. So I parked between two cars at a store, had the windows down and the sound bounced off the cars nicely and I'll be damned. It is loud as hell. Came home, parked on a flat garage floor, waited a few minutes and the level is perfect. Can too much oil cause this? Too little?

Any ideas? Am I in for a financial ride of my life? This money pit is beginning to P*SS me off!

Are you sure it's a Lifter??Sometimes a small exhaust leak can sound like one!! Maybe where they put the new exhaust gasket needs re-torqued,sometimes they will need just Little Tweak after Expansion and Contraction after replacement!! :thumb

The fuel injectors are easy to hear on LT1 and LT4 engines. They make a very pronounced ticking sound.

You might be sensitive to hearing noises because you just changed your oil.

SAVE THE :w

Junk, lt4, thanks. Good answers because:

1) They changed the manifold gasket on the left side and I still need one changed on the right side.

2) I have been putting Lucas injector cleaner in the tank.

I think BOTH answers could be correct.

Thanks to both of you!
