I have a slight tapping sound after the vette warms up and i come to a stop. It does not sound like a mechanical tapping. But more like if you took your finger and tap the exhaust with your finger nail. Its not a steady tap tap tap, but tapping/ping every few seconds. I cant tell if it is there while driving, my vette is too loud. It "sounds" like it is coming from the center area just before the resonator.

Do I need another tune up? Is something leaking or dripping? I am taking in for service friday. Anyone have suggestions and/or ideas before i get pricey solutions. The last place i asked about this, they wanted to replace the resonator at $4,000.

You may have an exhaust component slightly loose and tapping on something. It can be intermitant, but it'd be essential for you to try to isolate the area it is coming from. Can you park with a wheel up on a curb or something and get a look/listen under it? An exhaust leak would be less of a tap and more of a pffffft. Got that?:D

That said, sometimes exhaust leaks, throu small openings, can seem to come and go. I don't know why, but perhaps pressure in the system varies?

Sometimes I drive/park, driver and/or passenger side next to a curb with the window open to listen to under car sounds, initially. It gives a good echo and helps me define the sound and where it is coming from, better.
