There is some jute on each side of my 65 conv. on the straight sections in the rear compartment just below the curved wheel wells that is covered with a thick tar paper looking materia. There is also a piece covering the differential hump. Questions:How much of this material was in the rear section of the car. And, is this type material available anywhere? I have a new piece of jute underlayment that covers the differential hump and the flat part back to the riser section, but there is no tar paper. Thanks again.

I am fairly sure that this material was used as carpet underlayment for most of the 1965-66 floorpan. It was not used beneath the seats, and behind the seats up to the rear compartment bulkhead in convertibles, and beneath the seats, on coupes. Check your AIM to be sure. I removed and reinstalled it during restoration of my 1965 'vert. I bought it from Doc Rebuild in 2001. I do not believe that the same material was used in 1963-64.
