I have ordered a C6 Coupe, with painted top only. However, I plan to get an after-market glass top, as well. My questions for those more knowledgeable than I (most everybody out there)
1) the ease or difficulty of removing and installing the tops.
2) interior, visible "latches" or other snap on gadgetry.
3) the probable availability of after-market glass tops (when, what sources?).
4) rely on dealer or good mechanic to fit the after market glass top when it first arrives?
5) probable cost of the glass top only after market.

Any advice would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance.

HI there,
Very easy to install and remove the top.
It is also alot lighter than the c5 top, which also helps.
I do not know of anyone who is working on the aftermarket tops as of this time.
Honestly, as a service technician, I have seen nothing but problems with water leaks, windnoise and other problems with aftermarket c4 and c5 tops.
If a GM top is installed correctly, it will function the best.

If the C6 market is anything like the c5 market has been..

I remember many glass tops being available on the internet either from owners who no longer wanted their glass tops..or cars that were trashed and still had good glass tops available..

I paid 500 dollars from a gentlemen selling his never used glass top off his C5..

I imagine the C6 will be much the same..

If your not in a hurry for the glass top..

Then just keep an eye on the internet forums over the first couple of years...

I'm sure there will be plenty available ......

JMO...

if you want the glass top right away...buy it from GM as an option..

I have both tops for my C5. I use the painted top most of the time. The "glass" top allows too much sun in causing a lot of extra heat in the interior and also the brightness and glare are annoying at times. I don't think you'll miss not having it. It is very easy to take the painted top off and store it in the cargo bay. The C6's top is even lighter than the C5's.
