Have a targa top which the felt linning on the inside is loose. Anyone know how or have any suggestions in tightening it up. I suppose it was glued and the glue dried up....not sure. Some kind of padding underneath the felt. My older blue transparent top which had some blemishes on it is having an "American Flag" pasted on (Vinyl). The other top I may sell if I really like the flag but need to have that felt repaired. Thanks!

Needs a new headliner...lots of places do that. There are kits for DIY as well.

You can buy a new liner on Ebay. Follow the directions. You have to completely strip off the old liner or it wont hold. Did mine about a year ago and it still looks like new.

I removed the headliner and pad under it by carefully using a barbecue spatula. Then using the old headliner as a template I cut out a new one form some black vinyl that looked like leather. I used a good contact cement to install the vinyl on top of the pad. Total cost less than $15.00. Headliner001.jpgHeadliner006.jpgHeadliner009.jpgHeadliner011.jpg

After I put the new headliner on the pad I used liquid nails to fasten the pad to the top. As you can see in the picture I used a spray contact adhesive to fasten the headliner to the pad. Take time to get the side of the pad that the headliner goes onto as smooth as possible any bumps will show if you don't.

I have had several comments on how well my headliner in vinyl looks.

Thanks John,

I kinda figured that's how it could be done but wasn't sure. Last night I found material and full instructions online. The cost is around $27.00. The adhesive they recommend can be found in auto stores. I applaud your ingenuity...something I would definitely attempt. Thanks again for the help guys!

Nice Job indeed! It never even crossed my mind. So when can we look forward to the DIY video?:thumb
Cheers, :beer
