At 10:00am EST, Corvette C5-R #63 and #64 crossed the finish line to take first and second place in GTS class at the 24 Hours of LeMans.

Team Corvette had to overcome incredible odds that included numerous accidents throughout the race as well as intense competition from Ferrari. With about 4 hours left in the race, C5-R #64 took the class lead coming out of the pits just ahead of Ferrari and from this point on, the Corvette team ran like a bat of hell leaving the Ferraris back in the dust.

This race has been a true testament to the quality, dedication and professionalism of everyone involved in Team Corvette; from the drivers, to the support crew.

On behalf of everyone here at the Corvette Action Center we would like to congratulate Team Corvette and Chevrolet in winning the 2004 24 Hours of LeMans.

It's definitely a proud day for Corvette owners and enthusiasts around the world!!!

HOORAH for the C5r's. A bloody battle well won!!! :beer

Congratulations to the Corvette Team, job well done. :_rock :pat :Twist

Great race. I was amazed that not only did Gavin/Beretta/Magnussen's #64 Corvette C5-R take first place in the GTS class but it placed an amazing 6th overall! Fellows/O'Connell/Papis's #63 Corvette finished second in class and 8th overall. CONGRATULATIONS Corvette!!

I can't get enough of that announcers statement:

'Its a drag race out of the pit and the Corvette is pulling away from the Ferrari'

Yeah, gotta love it! :D

After seeing the crashes that the Corvette team were involved in over night, I'm still amazed at the fact that they came home winning 1st and 2nd place in class. The pit crew and the entire team really worked their asses off for this one and they've got a lot to be proud of! :upthumbs

Yeah Rob, you're absolutely right, inclucing having the class and overall leader, at the time, wreck them. Ferrari had a strong team and it made it that much sweeter to see Corvette prevail. Ron Fellows suffered a concussion in his crash. Yes, I totally agree, Team Corvette has a lot to be proud of.

I watched almost the entire race, it was extremely exciting! Several times the announcers brought up the Corvette parts boneyard and was talking about how they must almost be out of spares after all those crashes!! Great job guys!! I washed my 'vette and went for a cruise to celebrate.

I got back from Le Mans on Monday having watched the race from the Eurovette trackside trailer, cheering those awesome Vettes on. I still can't wipe the grin off my face. It was a huge effort by the Corvette team to overcome numerous setbacks but watching those Ferraris getting stuffed was the icing on the cake.

I'm looking forward to seeing the C6-Rs next year!!
