hi all

A few weeks back I added a section to my website for various tech articles and papers that i've come across for midyear Vettes - many of the from JohnZ and Lars plus others from various sources. I recently just added more to the site.
I'm hosting this information just so it's easily accessible for others to take advantage of it - afterall, it's all about sharing information so that we can all benefit.
Please feel free to take a look. If you click on the name of the article it will open up for you and if you right-click on it you can download the article to your own computer. Most of the articles are in .PDF format.

also, if anyone has any articles or tech info that they feel would be useful to share with everyone feel free to send them to me and i'll be glad to post them on the site along with the others so we can all benefit from it.

JohnZ and Lars generously allowed me to host their articles that I had but I don't know some of the other people that wrote various articles. If I have an article of of yours posted and you don't want to have it up please contact me and I'll pull it immediately.

The link to my tech page is

thanks guys, it's all about sharing the info :)

Blue, I'll check out the article, thanks!

sure Paul,I'm the keeper........... now if I only knew how to actually utilize all this tech info to work on my own car! ;LOL

Larry, I'm trying. just doing one little thing at a time than will slowly progress to larger things. :)

my list of winter projects is sure growing!

1. seal up cowl area under wiper arm grills to stop leaks
2. pull intake, valve covers, exhaust manifolds for reskinning and send carb out with them for rebuild so all pieces look good as new. While the pices are off the motor, touch-up some areas of the paint on the motor block.
3. Paul will help me with A/C install and possible cam change to LT-1 cam
4. if budget allows after all the above, pull radio and clock and send out for rebuild
5. pull and do some touch-up on a few interior trim pieces

I better start studying those tech papers myself! If I can manage to get through all of that list i'll have a lot more confidence working on the car than before I started. :)

Barry,

I just received my copy of Corvette Enthusiast yesterday and it has a great article on midyear headliner and door panel replacement. Talk about timely, I just bought both to replace on my car. Maybe they could be a part of your archive?
BTW, when you're ready to repair around the wiper motor arms, let me know and maybe we can get together and do a two-for-one deal. Mine needs it, too.

Dennis

I don't get Corvette Enthusiast magazine but if someone wanted to scan the article(s) I'd be happy to post them (if it isn't against some copyright to do that).

Dennis (midyear) showed me what to seal up under the grills and it looks relatively easy as long as I can remove the wiper arms without damaging them - I already see tool marks on the ends of the arms from prior removals. I'll be happy to tell you when I'm doing it if you want to take a cruise up one day. I don't think it should take more than approx. 45 minutes per car once we get the wiper arms off.
I refuse to have the car keep leaking like it is - she is still drying out from the inch or so of water on the floor from Saturday nights/Sunday mornings rain.

Larry, I currently get Corvette Fever but have been considering getting the other also since I realized that is where JohnZ writes a lot of his articles for. I'll most likely subscribe :)

Spend five bucks for the wiper arm remove/install tool and you can take them off and install them in seconds, without any scratches or gouges. :)

only $5.00 for the PROPER tool??!! done, sold!
John, can I get that at a local autoparts store like NAPA or Autozone or is a speciality Vette piece I need to get from a place like Paragon?

my wiper arm ends already look like somebody just grabbed them in visegrips or pliers and pulled as the teethmarks are on them at the base :ugh

thanks John! I have to go back and return that fan clutch to NAPA so I'll see if they have that tool in stock or can get it for me. :beer

Any good auto parts store should have one - they're made by Lisle and by K-D. :)

Barry

The sears in my area has a whole wall of automobile tools made by lisle. Its too bad the people working there are not aware of what they carry,if you ask them for it they allways ssay NO (man I hate that word) just look on the wall and you will find it. Pick your self up a nice set of picks you can use the straight pick to find the hole for your console.

thanks Larry for the suggestion - I see you remembered my little dilemma regarding the console :) Yep, I need to start taking that apart that and figure out how to properly reassemble it. A good set of picks would be helpful there I'm sure.

As you say, the people working in the Sears are useless but if they have them I'll find it.

looks like soon enough I'm going to have to splurge for a REAL toolbox also, not the overcrowded, too small, basic one I've been using. While i'm at Sears I better at least start looking at what they have.
