Nope, but someday.
GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS, Fuel Sending Unit Corrosion and Fuel System Deposits
2006 and Prior All GM Cars and Trucks

GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS, P/N 88861011 (for U.S. ACDelco®, use 88861013) (in Canada, 88861012), is now available.

Added Benefits and Uses
The PLUS portion of GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS is the addition of a filmer additive that, when used regularly, can protect fuel system sending units from the corrosive effects of certain sulfur contaminants found in some of today's gasoline.

Sulfur contamination can disrupt electrical continuity of certain fuel sending units and lead to erratic or false fuel gauge readings. With scheduled usage, GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS protects against the effects of harmful sulfurs in gasoline.

You Get Four Benefits
One bottle of GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS added to the fuel tank at each oil change:

• Cleans -- Sulfur corrosion from fuel gauge sending units.

• Prevents -- Harmful sulfur components from attacking sensitive fuel system electronics.

• Protects -- By coating metallic surfaces of the fuel system.

• Removes -- Engine deposits left from use of poor quality fuels.

GM Fuel System Treatment PLUS will replace the original GM Fuel System Treatment, P/N 12345104 (in Canada, 89020804). The original formula may still be available for a limited time, and provides the excellent Fuel System Cleaning aspects of the new product without the filmer.

Hi there,
There are a few extra points that must be taken with this TSB.

NOTE: The interval for using this cleaner is NOW 3000 miles, NOT 1500.
And this will NOT assist any of the FFS fuel system equipped c5/c6 built from mid year production 2003 to present date, that may have a fuel gauge problem.

The above information is a paste of a recent GM technical service bulletin 05-00-89-078. This additive has been extremely effective in c5 for fuel gauge concerns. Even better than the Techron additive, because of the filming action of the chemical.

Would the use of the GM additive be of any benifit to those of us with older cars with 100,000+ on the clock, or our systems to far along for us to realize any benifit other than keeping things from getting any worse?

Bret

Anybody know where to get this other than a Dealer?

Another benefit to the new additive, as with Techron, is that it will reduce carbon buildup inside your engine.
It is beneficial to ANY car, not just newer Corvette.
I use it in my Buick, with 120k on it, and recommend it on any car that is not consistantly using Top tier fuels.

I use Chevron almost exclusively in my Z06. I still have the fuel guage problem. I will try this additive. But using Chevron gas does not seem to guarantee solving the issue all by itself.

I look forward to finally meeting you this summer at the Cruise-In.

C4C5, good to see you around again, unlessI've just been looking in the wrong areas, haven't seen you here too much.

HI,
Training for the new models has been very intense, been spending all my time there.
6L80, Tahoe for 2007, LS7, ZO6, Duramax diesel, Allison.
Extremely intense, I usually have a headache after it.:W
But, its slowing down, so I have more time.
Besides, I gotta be ready for the Cruisefest.:crazy

New Techron

I tried three Dealers near me, none had it. All did say that the numbers were good.
Does anybody know if it's practical to mail order from a Dealer Sponser?

Barrier,
I believe you can order it directly from GM Parts Direct. Copy the part number from C4C5Specialist's post at the top of this thread, and paste it into the search window on the part's direct home page. Price they list just under $13 for a case of six bottles.

I just did a check on GM Parts Direct.
$12.84 each, case of 6 is 77.04 S&H $16.95 total $91.00
Is this correct??
$6.00 Autozone 12oz ??

Barrier,
Yes, that looks like the GM Parts Direct price. I don't know about Autozone. Are you sure it's the same product Autozone is offering?

-Patrick

No, It is not the same item. The one at Autozone is Techron, the other is the new replacement improved cleaner as indicated by c4 c5 specialist. I am sure it is better I just don't know if it's worth twice the price.
Maybe some kind of Group Purchase, particularly if it solves the dreaded gas guage sensor problem.

Went to a nother local dealer today. They wanted $22.50 retail, $18. whsle. for 20ozs. Maybe I'm just behind the times but thats $144. per gallon!!!
How could GM be having problems the stuff is a petroleum derivative and a barrel is going for $57. for 35 gallons.
Thats nuts.
I never thought $12.84 would look cheap.

What is your opinion of a product called BG K44 ? It is supposed to be the best on the market......Thanks:beer

Hey Paul,

Thanks for the update on the recent Technical Bulletin on GM Techron replacement. But let's be honest - most Corvettes live a pampered life and the issues around deposits from low end gas are nearly non-existant. I'd say the periodic use of good old Techron (goofy looking black bottle) found in most auto parts stores - is just fine.

Remo:cool

P.S. - Quicksilver's going to Lingenfelter in late March - see you at Bowling Green in June.

HI there,
Techron is not the same, and any fuel can create problems, no matter who makes it.
The simple truth is that the Top tier fuel will cause much LESS problems than the others that are NOT.
As for the cost, one fuel injector, about $100 each, times 8. With that in mind, is $24 every 3000 miles THAT EXPENSIVE????

Hi there,
BG44K is more of a carbon buildup reducer, not so much a sulfur filmer and is not as effective as the 88861011.
