Who here has rebuilt their th400. I just bought the Haynes General Motors Automatic Transmission overhaul manual and have read throught it. Is this a difficult task for someone that has never rebuilt a tranny before. I am also going to be purchasing a dvd if i decied to rebuild this tranny. I am also thinking of swapping out my th400 for a th350 what is involved with this. My car was is a 75 that came with a th400. I dont know if it would be better to keep my th400 or get a th350 I have a year one roller motor its a 355 dynoed 425hp @ 5800 and 438 ft/lb of torque @ 3800. I know the th400 is a lot stronger tranny but it does eat alot of power too from what i hear. So would i be best to rebuild or swap? I dont want an overdrive so no swap to an overdrive remarks. I dont drive the car enough to worry about gas milage. Thanks in advance for any input.

With that motor you are going to need as stout a tranny as you can get. I think the TH400 would serve you better than the 350. Just my opinion.
